Ira Walfish

Ira Walfish

MBA (York, Schulich Business School, 1987), C.A. (1986), B.B.A. (York, Schulich Business School, 1985)

Ira Walfish’s teaching experience includes delivering U.F.E. and CKE sessions at P.A.S.S. for the last 20 years, as well as instructing an accounting case writing course at York University, and lecturing at Concordia University and the University of Waterloo.

Ira was a Senior Manager at Ernst and Young until April 1995 when he resigned his position to pursue education and training on a full time basis. Ira consults in Workers' Compensation to companies and has worked with the Provincial Government, Ministry of Finance, in designing the Equity in Education Tax Credit. Ira sits on a number of non-profit and education Boards.

Michael Levi

Michael Levi

1987 U.F.E. Ontario Gold Medalist C.A. (1987), MBA (York, Schulich Business School, 1985, Honour Roll), B.Comm (U. of T., 1983, With Distinction)

Michael Levi was the 1987 U.F.E. Ontario Gold Medalist. He has extensive teaching experience as an instructor for the Professional Accounting Supplementary School (P.A.S.S.) U.F.E. and CKE Courses for the last 20 years. He has also lectured in Accounting using the case method at the University of Toronto, York University, Concordia University and the University of Waterloo.

In addition to his teaching experience, Michael was a Senior Manager at Deloitte and Touche until May 1995 when he resigned his position to devote himself full time to education and training. Michael consults in Workers' Compensation to companies and has worked with the Provincial Government, Ministry of Finance, in designing the Equity in Education Tax Credit.

Jethro Bushenbaum

Jethro Bushenbaum

Jethro wrote the UFE in 1998 achieving the Canadian gold medal and received his designation in February of 1999. Jethro has been correcting the comprehensive question of the UFE since 1999 and will continue to do so. Jethro provides prep work for several of the national accounting firms, some mid-sized Toronto firms, the CA program at the John Molson School of Business and is a seminar leader for the second professional practice week at the ICAO School of accountancy. Jethro Bushenbaum has an accounting practice in mid-town Toronto since late 2000 that focuses mainly on personal and corporate tax and UFE prep.

Narmin Multani

Narmin Multani

C.A., Graduate Diploma In Accountancy (Concordia University) B.Comm (Concordia University)

Narmin Multani’s extensive UFE experience has propelled her in the field of UFE training and readiness. She has marked the UFE for a number of years and lectures at Concordia University during the summer UFE training program. Narmin has assisted numerous individuals in achieving their C.A. status, and currently lectures at York University. Narmin has also taught in the School of Accountancy with the ICAO for several years. She has also taught the repeat writers program with The Ordre des Comptables Agréés du Québec. Narmin gained her valuable auditing experiencing while she was with BDO Dunwoody, where she also completed her C.A. designation.

Stanley N. Laiken

Stan Laiken

BA (Ivey, 1966), MBA (Wharton, 1969), PhD (Ivey, 1972), CBV Deloitte & Touche Professor of Accounting School of Accounting and Finance University of Waterloo

Stan Laiken has been a faculty member in the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo since 1981.

Stan has taught tax to undergraduate and graduate students in professional programs, both at the university and post-university levels, since 1972 and has received the Distinguished Teacher Award of the University of Waterloo. He is also the recipient of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association's L.S. Rosen Award for outstanding contribution to accounting education.

Stan is a co-author of the tax textbook, Introduction to Federal Income Taxation in Canada, and has authored or co-authored numerous articles for the Canadian Tax Journal. He is also the Director of the Deloitte Centre for Tax Education and Research at the University of Waterloo.

 

Nick Giuffre

MBA (York, Schulich Business School)

Nick has been a member of the ICAO teaching faculty at the School of Accountancy since 1993, teaching the professional development week. He has instructed at the Schulich Business School at York University, teaching Financial and Management Accounting courses and written cases. His teaching experience also includes instructing in Management Accounting courses with the Ted Rogers Business School at Ryerson, Corporate Finance courses at Seneca College and the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario. Nick has taught in the PASS program since 1998.

Nick has Extensive Financial Services experience with Laurentian Group, CIBC, Manulife, RBC and BMO in the areas of finance, accounting, internal audit, risk management and compliance. He is currently a Senior Manager with BMO Financial Group, heading up the Operational Risk Change Management area with P&C Canada.

Leslie Berger

Leslie Berger

PhD Candidate, C.A., C.P.A., BBA (Wilfred Laurier University)

As an instructor for PASS, Leslie enjoys assisting CA candidates as they prepare for the CKE, SOA and UFE. She currently lectures for both the PASS UFE and CKE Courses about topics including UFE Case Writing, Assurance, Performance Measurement, Finance, and Corporate Governance. Leslie holds a degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. After completing her first degree, she joined PricewaterhouseCoopers where she obtained her CA and CPA designations.

Leslie currently is a PhD Candidate at the University of Waterloo, and an assistant professor at Brock University.
